Steampunk

I encountered a new fashion trend just recently and decided to do a little research. Anyone ever heard of Steampunk?

I googled the sucker and as far as I can tell its a kind of old west/

hippy chic/

sci fi love child.

It is not only limited to fashion it also includes tricking out your modern electronic gadgets to make them look like they are from the old west.

I was having flash backs to Wild Wild West and League of Extraordinary Gentleman (if you haven't seen either of these movies your way behind, go rent them).
The fashion end can range from t-shirts and jewlery with cogs and gears splashed across the front,

to full blown dresses complete with bustle and of course all the mish mosh of in between.

Don't forget your goggles, otherwise you won't be able to see during your crazy time warping expidentions.

One common theme is the ladies outfits are usually pretty hot,

while the guys end up looking kinda dorky.....
or maybe that's cause dorky guys have taken up this fashion (no offense intended). You be the judge.
They kind of remind me of these guys when I was living on campus who used to dress up as knights and battle to the death with giant foam weapons wrapped in duck tape (wrong era, but you get the idea). I'm still deciding how I feel about this particular trend. I'll let you know once I make up my mind.

ETSY

One of my very good friends introduced me to this site the other day. I'm on a mission to find a flower clip for my hair and trust her to know right where to go. Honestly, I'm not sure how I survived without her. Anyhow, she plopped me down and immediately began to show me the numerous options that ETSY offered. There are hundreds of sellers, its kind of like ebay, only for girls! :)
Check out these sweet purple pumps I found, aren't they adorable? Good thing for my man I not a spender otherwise I would be saying come to mama!!!

I also found cameos! (Shocker I know...) Check out this mermaid ring! I would have preferred it as a necklace, but its still pretty.

Can not forget flowers! :) It's the reason i started this post in the first place!

One more thing. Hats! Love the red cloche.

Now stop reading this and go look for your self!

Out of Town

My man and I had to do an impromptu trip out of state just recently and although we were dealing with some not so fun things we decided to make the best of it. We flew up to Washington where we started our journey and then drove 5 hours to Oregon.
On the way to Oregon we detoured and stopped to see Bridal Falls. It was so pretty and we really enjoyed getting out to stretch and the short hike down to the waterfall.

We stayed in Oregon for a couple days and then decided instead of flying back we would brave the 17 hour drive back home.So what did I do? I called my mother to find out what would be the best place to stop on the way back. We really only had time to squeeze one detour into our journey home so we went with her recommendation of Burney Falls. It was totally worth it... once we found our way there!
We pulled up directions and followed them exactly, only when we got the to end there was no water fall!!! We drove a little further (about 2 miles) and then finally saw another lonely soul driving towards us. It was a little old lady who lived in the area, she kindly gave us alternate directions and informed us the road we were on was a horse shoe shape and we wanted to be on the other end. So we headed back out to the main road and found the other side. She had told us to watch out for a turn off on the side of the road... after we passed at least the 5th one we decided to pull over and start walking in. We found a closed off road and hiked in following it for about 10 minutes. Then we found camp sites! The falls couldn't be far! We hiked in from the road and found the river

Then we hiked 15 minutes back in the direction we had come listening for the sound of roaring water. We stumbled upon a bridge and found a sign pointing in the direction we needed to go.

Victory! 5 minutes later we were standing in front of the most beautiful water fall.

On the hike back out we found the turn off that we were originally looking for about a 2 minute walk from the bridge. We walked out to the road and realized we were a half a mile from our car and both of us started laughing.
But you know what? It was an adventure and it was totally worth it! :)

Lacy Things

I love underwear, more than shoes, more than jewelry, and way more than make up. I love how a silky pair of undies can make you feel more sexy then anything else you are wearing. How lace can transform how you walk and the amount of confidence you have. In essence a good base to your outfit can dictate how you wear everything else.
I went on the hunt for vintage style underthings. When it comes to undergarments I prefer modern materials (old lace and get stiff and sometimes even crumbly from frequent washes and age). Dollhouse Bettie has a wide range of style, from the 30's to modern.
I especially loved this little number! Who wouldn't feel sexy wearing this under their clothes everyday? Or how about this one? Make sure you take a peek around this site, it's well worth it.
The next site I found was Lucy B's. It has a smaller range of things, but still some cuteness.
This site has some really cute vintage style panties, bras, and whatever else your little heart desires.
The cute lacy robe caught my eye!

enjoy!

The Cameo Search

For one, I have to say I'm sorry that I have been so lax about putting up posts. School has really been taking up the majority of my time, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Now onto something worth reading.
I have been on the hunt for a new cameo, since mine broke and I have yet to figure out how to fix it... I am avoiding super gluing it back together. I came across some pretty cool sites that had beautiful jewelry. Now I am a classic black and white kind of girl, but there is no denying that the colored cameos are really eye catching, esp. the blue ones.
Now this site of Victorian Jewelery not only cameos, but also a collection of fabulous vintage jewelery and an assortment of other random things.... vintage silverware anyone? The cameo of the week was a nice touch.
This site, Renaissance Jewelers, has some really beautiful stuff, its kind of pricey, but if you like vintage it's a great to take a peek at. If you are not into the vintage look you could probably by something more modern for a comparable price.
Last site is by far my favorite out of my search today, Vintage Lane. The site its self is very well put together and appealing and the jewelry is so great! (It also made me realize why my grandma loves Avon, I did not know it has been around forever!) Oh and just so you know owls are making a come back! :)

My favorite pick from the cameo search is this one -

Merry Christmas Take One

My man and I opened your gifts to each other early this year, since we are not going to be together for Christmas. I was so excited that he did not guess what his presents were before he opened them this year! (He has a habit of doing so and it makes me so mad!)
He got a Betty Page poster (wearing, of course, the famous leopard print bikini), a pirate calendar, a beer mug, and to round off the manly gifts a set of drill bits (Aren't I a nice fiance?).
He got a me a beautiful book, The Great American Pin-Up. I have been ogling that book for a while now. It has picture from many famous artists ranging from the 20's to the 50's. I love it!

The cover and some of the great pictures!

There will be more pics after Christmas :) I am anticipating some good things this year! Mom has been especially sneaky and that's always a good sign.
